"Every day is a chance
to choose hope, give myself grace,
and find joy in the little things."
When PNES entered our lives, it changed me, too. Along the way, I’ve found pieces of myself again. Writing and music have helped me heal. Faith and laughter have carried me. I’ve learned to give myself grace. I share my journey so other caregivers know they aren’t alone.

Finding Joy Beyond Caregiving
When you become a caregiver, it can be easy to lose pieces of yourself along the way. So much of your time, energy, and heart are focused on the person you love that taking time for yourself can somehow begin to feel selfish. I’ve had to learn that it isn’t. It’s okay to allow yourself grace. It’s okay to rest, to step away, to laugh, to have fun, and to spend time doing things simply because they bring you joy.
For me, self-care isn’t always something big. Sometimes it’s writing a song, getting lost in a book, taking a day trip, watching a movie, enjoying a quiet moment, or giving myself permission to do absolutely nothing for a while. Those moments don’t mean I care any less. They help me recharge so I can continue to care without completely losing myself in the process.
Caregiving is an important part of my life, but it is not all of who I am. I am learning to hold onto the things that make me feel like me and to make room for joy without guilt. Caring for yourself doesn’t take anything away from the love you give someone else. Sometimes giving yourself a little grace is exactly what allows you to keep giving that love.
Faith Along the Way
Faith has always been part of my life but walking through a season I never expected has changed the way I understand it. I’ve learned that faith isn’t always having the answers or feeling strong. Sometimes it’s trusting God when I don’t understand, praying when I don’t know what to say, and believing He is still present even on the days when He feels quiet.
I’ve also learned to look for God in the little things. A beautiful sunrise, an unexpected kindness, a moment of laughter on a difficult day, a prayer answered in a way I almost missed, or simply the strength to get through today. Those small moments have become reminders that God’s presence isn’t always found in dramatic answers. Sometimes He meets us quietly, right in the middle of ordinary life.

One verse I return to again and again is Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God.” It reminds me that I don’t have to have everything figured out. I can be still, notice the blessings tucked into the day, and trust that God is present in both the difficult moments and the beautiful ones. I may not know what the road ahead holds, but I’m learning that I only need enough faith for the step in front of me.

Reflections From My Journey
I began writing on my personal blog long before PNES entered our lives. It was simply a place to put my thoughts into words, to reflect on faith, life, gratitude, relationships, and the lessons I was learning along the way. I never imagined how important that little space would eventually become.
When our lives changed, my writing changed with them. It became a place where I could work through emotions, I didn’t always know how to say out loud, make sense of difficult days, hold onto my faith, and notice the hope that was still there even when life felt uncertain. Writing became more than something I enjoyed. In many ways, it became part of how I healed.
I still write about much more than PNES or caregiving because those things are only part of my story. I write about faith, joy, grief, gratitude, relationships, ordinary moments, and what it means to keep growing through seasons we never expected. These reflections are pieces of that journey, reminders of where I’ve been, what I’m learning, and how much hope can be found when we give ourselves permission to be honest about both the hard and the beautiful.
Songwriting isn't entirely new to me. I dabbled in it during my high school days, but like many things from our younger years, it eventually faded into the background as life moved on. I never imagined that decades later I would find my way back to it, or that it would become such a meaningful creative outlet.
Some of my songs have grown from our journey with PNES and caregiving, while others come from my faith, life lessons, memories, or simply something that touches my heart. I also write songs just for fun, because I've learned that creativity doesn't always need a deeper purpose. Sometimes doing something simply because it makes you happy is reason enough.

Songs From the Journey
Songwriting has become one of the ways I care for myself. It gives me a place to step away from the responsibilities of caregiving, express what I'm feeling, and reconnect with a part of myself I had almost forgotten. The songs I share here reflect the more meaningful pieces of that journey—faith, love, hope, gratitude, healing, and the reminder that even when life changes, there is still room to create and to find joy.
My Favorite Reflections
A collection of blog posts—stories of faith, growth, hope, and lessons learned along this journey.
From My Heart to Yours
Songs I write that share my heart—some tender some joyful, all inspired by life and faith.
Inside Out 2 Relates
Joy and sadness can travel together. Even in our hardest seasons, there can still be moments of joy waiting to be noticed. Sometimes allowing ourselves to feel both is part of finding our way forward.
Still Carrying Light
A song about continuing to carry hope when the road remains long and the answers do not come easily. Even in the darkness, grace gives us enough light to take one more step and share it with someone else.
The Dance of Life
Sometimes hope isn't found in something extraordinary. It's waiting in the quiet, ordinary moments we almost forgot to notice. Those little moments can become some of the ones we treasure most.
Flawless by His Grace
An honest reflection on hidden pain, imperfect faith, and
the grace that continues to hold us together. We are not
flawless because we never fall, but because His love never
lets us go.
Lava Monsters
What has happened to you may have changed your life, but it does not define who you are. There is still so much more to your story. Who you are is so much bigger than the circumstances you are facing.
The Story I Carry
A song born from the unseen battles, whispered prayers,
and enduring love that shaped our journey. Our scars have become part of a story that reminds others that they do not have to walk alone.
Be Fearlessly Authentic
Spinning Out of Control
When life feels uncertain and everything seems to be moving too quickly, courage may simply mean holding on for one more day. Beneath the fear, hope continues to whisper that we are stronger and less alone than we realize.
Give yourself permission to be exactly where you are and exactly who you are. You don't have to become someone
else to be worthy of this life. There is something freeing
about finally extending that same acceptance and
grace to yourself.
