A Journey of faith, resilience,
and rebuilding
How Seizing Hope began
Seizing Hope was born out of a life we never expected to be living—but one we are learning to walk through with faith, resilience, and a commitment to not do it alone.
Hello,

Seizing Hope was born out of a life we never expected to be living, but one we are learning to walk through with faith, resilience, and a commitment to not do it alone.
We are Tim and Diane, a husband and wife whose lives changed in an instant on March 14, 2024. What began as a normal day quickly turned into something we could not understand or control. Tim collapsed and began seizing, and what we thought would pass in minutes continued for 48 hours. That moment marked the beginning of a journey that would challenge everything we thought we knew about health, stability, and the future we had planned.
After countless appointments, tests, and long days filled with more questions than answers, we were introduced to a diagnosis we had never heard of before: PNES—Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures. It is a condition that exists in a space many people don’t fully understand, where the symptoms are very real, but the path forward is often unclear. Along with the diagnosis came a wave of change, physically, emotionally, and mentally, for both of us.
For Tim, it meant navigating a body that no longer responded the way it once had. It meant facing the loss of independence, routine, and the sense of purpose that had been built over decades of working and providing. For Diane, it meant stepping into a role she never anticipated, becoming the steady one, the advocate, the support system, and often the one holding onto hope when it felt like everything else was shifting.
Seizing Hope is not just a website, it is a reflection of our journey. It is a space where we share the reality of living with PNES, not just the medical side, but the emotional and relational impact that comes with it. We believe there is a need for honesty in these conversations. There are families walking through similar situations who feel confused, overwhelmed, and alone, and we want them to know they are not.
Our goal is to build a community rooted in understanding, support, and connection. This is a place where we will share our story, both the difficult moments and the ones that remind us why we keep moving forward. It is also a place where others can find encouragement, insight, and the reassurance that even in the middle of uncertainty, there is still hope.
We are not experts, and we don’t have all the answers. What we do have is lived experience, faith that continues to carry us, and a deep desire to turn what we are walking through into something that can help others. We believe that even in the hardest seasons, there is purpose. Sometimes it is found in simply showing up each day. Sometimes it is found in sharing your story so someone else feels less alone.
Tim has found a new sense of purpose through creativity, using storytelling and audio dramas as a way to channel his experiences, his imagination, and his voice. What once felt like an ending has slowly become the beginning of something different, something meaningful in a new way. Diane continues to write and share openly about the emotional side of this journey, offering a perspective that many caregivers quietly carry but don’t always have the space to express.
Together, we are learning what it means to rebuild, not the life we had before, but a life that still holds value, purpose, and connection.
Seizing Hope is exactly that. It is choosing to hold onto hope even when life feels uncertain. It is believing that even in the middle of struggle, something good can still grow. It is a reminder that we are not alone in what we are facing.
If you are here because you or someone you love is walking through something similar, we want you to know this: we see you, we understand more than you may think, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
This is our story. And we are so glad you’re here.
Tim & Diane
